Rules of the Road
In Utah, a bicycle is considered a vehicle and must abide by the same rules of the road.
Ride no more than two abreast unless impeding traffic, then single file.
Some sections of routes are marked as single file only.
All roads are open to two-lane traffic.
Ride to the right and pass others on the left. Give an audible signal with your voice or a bell as you approach others to communicate before passing. Give others a comfortable space of a few feet when passing.
Cyclists must wear a Snell, ANSI, or ASTM-approved helmet, wristband, and helmet tag while on the routes.
Ride on or near as close as possible to the right-hand shoulder.
Slow down when approaching cattle guards.
All routes are well-marked with red arrow event signs (no pavement paint).
Please stay on all marked bike roads & paths and do not ride off path, on red rock, etc.
FOOD INFO
Lunch
BBQ Lunch is included for participants on Saturday and Sunday behind the Aarchway Inn hotel from 12:00 pm-3:00 pm. This is a hot lunch buffet. We will also have a variety of drinks available including Lemonade, Iced Tea, water, and Coca-Cola. Due to permitting restrictions alcohol will not be provided. Cyclists are welcome to bring their own food or drink to the festivities as well.
Did you purchase a guest lunch pass? If you purchased a guest lunch pass for your guest, we will provide the guest lunch pass (a wristband) to the registered cyclists who purchased it at rider check-in with the rest of your packet. It is the responsibility of you and your guest to make sure they are wearing the wristband during lunch(es.)
If you would like to purchase additional guest lunch passes, you will be able to do so at rider check-in.
AID STATIONS
AID Stations will be stocked with a variety of the following: Bananas, cookies, salty snacks, Pro Bars, and water. AID stations will have Gatorade powder so you can mix your own. Please bring your own sports drink and nutrition if you desire.
WEATHER
Late summer in Moab can be AMAZING, as we can often see the spectrum of weather and temperatures, especially with our routes climbing different elevations each day. We can’t stress enough the packing of apparel and accessories for cycling in all weather conditions. Right now the weather is looking cool in the morning for starts, but very warm in the afternoons. Pop-up thunderstorms are possible.
Check the current weather forecast.
