2026 Moab Skinny Tire Spring Festival

Thank you for being here; You Make A Difference! This is the digital welcome letter with all the details you need to know about this year’s event! This is for participants of the event only.

Rules of the Road

  • In Utah, a bicycle is considered a vehicle and must abide by the same rules of the road.

  • Ride no more than two abreast unless impeding traffic, then single file.

Some routes are marked SINGLE FILE ONLY.

  • Cyclists must wear a Snell, ANSI, or ASTM approved helmet, wristband, and helmet tag while on the routes.

  • Ride on or near as possible to right-hand shoulder.

  • Roads are open to vehicles all four days of the event, please ride cautiously and on the shoulder.

  • Slow down when approaching cattle guards.

  • All routes are well-marked with white and red event signs (no pavement paint).

FOOD INFO

Lunch is included Saturday, Sunday and Monday. (Scroll down for more info!)

AID stations will be stocked with a variety of the following: Bananas, cookies, salty snacks, Pro Bars, water and Gatorade. Please feel free to bring your own sports drink if desired.

WEATHER

Spring in Moab can be AMAZING, as we can often see the spectrum of weather and temperatures, especially with our routes climbing different elevations each day. We can’t stress enough the packing of apparel and accessories for cycling in all weather conditions.

Event Communication volunteers (HAM RADIO) will also be in many places and ready to help!

Please note, we are unable to store your unneeded gear in our vehicles or at our Aid stations.

Be prepared to present your wristband at aid stations and lunch spots.

Restrooms

There are restrooms available at the route start and end at the Aarchway Hotel. Additionally, we will have portable toilets located at Aid stations every 10-15 miles or so. Should you, in an emergency, need to “go” while on the route - Per Grand County Ordinance 634 - any solid human waste must be packed out. So if you suspect you’ll need to dispose of human waste in between the provided restrooms, please bring your own Wag Bag.

How To Access The Routes

All routes start and stop from our host hotel, the Aarchway Inn Hotel. Join us Saturday morning for an official group start at 8:00 am. All route start times are below. Parking for participants is available at the host hotel.

If you prefer to start on your own, you may, as long as you adhere to the route schedule below.

Friday, March 13th - Rider Check-In

Rider Check-In will be from 2 pm - 6 pm in the courtyard behind the Aarchway Inn (1551 N Riverview Drive.) This is where you will pick up your helmet tag, wristbands, and any pre-purchased merchandise when you originally registered. There will be merchandise available for purchase. Cyclists may pick up packets for other riders (as long as waivers for all parties have been signed).

2 pm - 6 pm: Rider Check-in
2 pm - 6 pm: Add your story, and read other stories, to our Why We Ride area. Optional but encouraging to read!

Saturday, March 14th - Dead Horse Point State Park

7 am - 8 am: Rider Check-in (In lobby or front of Aarchway Inn)
7:30 am - 8:30 am: Mechanic available for wrenching at Aarchway Inn
8 am - 9 am: ROUTE START. The official start is at 8 am at the Aarchway Inn. All cyclists must be on the road no later than 9 am. View the route map here.
8 am - 3 pm: The route is open.
12noon - 3 pm: Aarchway Inn Courtyard: Festival Celebration. Live music with hot lunch, massage therapists for hire, merchandise sales.

Sunday, March 15th - Colorado River Corridor

This route has single file-only sections with zero tolerance*.

7:30 am - 8:30 am: Mechanic available for wrenching at Aarchway Inn
8 am - 8:30 am: ROUTE START. The official start is at 8 am at the Aarchway Inn. All self-start cyclists must be on the road no later than 8:30 am. View the route map here.
8 am - 2 pm: The route is open.
11:30 am - 2:30 pm: Hot lunch served at the Aarchway Inn, live music at the Aarchway Inn Hotel Courtyard.

🚧 IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SUNDAY'S RIDE ON THE COLORADO RIVER (HWY128) 🚧

We have just been informed by Grand County that there will be construction on HWY128 between Goose Island Campground and the Grandstaff Canyon trailhead parking lot. Here is what Grand County told us:

📍 Where: Between Goose Island Campground and the Grandstaff Canyon trailhead parking lot
📅 When: Starting March 9, 2026, seven days a week
🚗 Impact: One-way alternating traffic with signal-controlled delays of 15 minutes during the day (6 AM-10 PM) and 30 minutes at night (10 PM-6 AM)
 

All cyclist are to follow signal-controlled traffic light and posted signs.


Monday, March 16th - ARCHES NATIONAL PARK

This route has single file-only sections with zero tolerance*.
9 am - 9:30 am: ROUTE START. The official start is at 9 am at the Aarchway Inn. All self-start cyclists must be on the road no later than 9:30 am. View the route map here.
9 am - 3 pm: The route is open. Must exit the national park by 3 pm.
10:30 am - 1:00 pm: Lunch available (for cyclists only) at turnaround inside the park, located at Devils Garden Trailhead picnic area.

SPECIAL RULES OF THE ROAD - ARCHES NATIONAL PARK

Rule #1*: Park rules specify SINGLE FILE CYCLING only - this is a no-tolerance policy.

Rule #2: No parking in the park to start the ride. Shuttles from Aarchway Inn to AID 1 (inside Arches Nat’l Park) are available for those who want to shorten their ride. Space is limited. Those who want to use this service need to be in front of Aarchway Inn by 8:30am.

Rule #3: If riding in a line of cyclists, provide ample passing space every 4-6 cyclists. If you notice a line of cars behind you, please pull over at a safe turnout to allow the vehicles to pass. We are sharing the park with vehicles that are passing as courteously as possible.


Tuesday, March 17th - RIVER PORTAL RIDE *Note that the elevation on RidewithGPS is not correct, elevation gained is closer to ~435ft

9 am - 10:00 am: ROUTE START. The official start is at 9 am at the Aarchway Inn. All self-start cyclists must be on road no later than 9:30 am. View the route map here.
9 am - 1 pm: The route is open.

*Be prepared to merge and cross HWY 191 to Potash Road. There will be a patrol car with lights to slow, NOT STOP, vehicle traffic. Use caution.

* Zero Tolerance Policy means sections of the course have mandated single file riding by the Utah Department of Transportation. If you disobey you not only hinder the safety of others, you may be escorted off the course and our permitting privileges could be damaged.
